For now, you SERVE ME.

8am shifts are killing me. But heck those...let's talk freedom, play and day-offs!

First DAY OFF! We headed to the theme park to play the rides but the rain screwed our plans, and so we went to the mall instead. Han and Dy had to work, and Ak and Tong had their own plans, so the 4 of us goofed around Walmart wow-ing at the food, the prices and the cute-ness of everything. DAMN, did you know that a small tub of Ben n Jerry's ice cream only costs USD 1??!!! Confirm whack one lor..

Fooling around in the theme park

Love is in the air.

The marching band

We took BUMPER CARS

My special Chinese buffet meat platter
4 of us had the best chinese buffet EVER (in USA) for only USD 6.55. See my plate of salad - so healthy cannot take it! LOL

SHOPPING with Han later. Greatest damage ever created.

My new Jessica Simpson wristlet/purse
LIP BALM AND GLOSS GALORE! CUTE SIAH.

My new aviators for 20USD

Awesome pink Liz Claiborne laptop case

Michigan Cap! from New Era :)

Random chillin' at Macs with a book, fudge nuts sundae and hot coffee

Gorgeous sunset. The sun always sets in the most amazing manner here in Sandusky; every evening is a different sunset. But can you believe it...the sun sets here at about 8.30pm!

On my darnit 8am shift tomorrow again. Hope I don't go spinning cotton candy for 5 hours and pulling Elephant ears for 4 hours like today again. Looking forward to our New York and Niagara Falls trips though :):)

Ohohoh, i got my first paycheck for the first week of work dudes! SO exciting! It is more than enough to cover the loss of my money and phone. YAY :)

OOOH, and i got my grades. AWESOME...I improved and got my B-ssssss :):):) And maybe next sem i can manage an A for my final module grade! HAHAHA.

Happy...ok yeah, but I miss you people in Singapore. Lovessss.

SHOPPING is therapy.

This week is awesome. Talk about hating it here, we finally decided that the worst was probably OVER. And...we are probably loving it even more. HAHAHA...flickle-mindedness.
Obviously there's a reason for it...I haven't been asked to wash the dishes since Monday, I had yesterday afternoon off from 1pm, and today i am scheduled to work only from 12noon to 4pm, AND i am having the entire tomorrow off!

Headed down to Meijers and Sandusky Mall with Ak yesterday since everyone else was still hard at work. Han and Dy came over to our stall and were assigned to take over our duties of cashiering and frying...IT WAS DAMN COOL when the whole pizza room was suddenly overwhelmed with Singaporeans...there was this other Singaporean who came to help them along too. Felt sooooo homely...Damn it makes me want to travel those 33 hours back to Singapore again.

I tell you...the snack section in those hypermarkets are CRAZY... what with the whole array of colours and shapes and designs on those packaging. Devious gimmicks that enticed us...we nearly bought the whole shelf back. We got super stuck at their can food section...But luckily we intended to proceed to another mall...so enough was enough. 6 cans was enough to weigh us down man...

I bought a new wallet...Jessica Simpson's design, for only USD 8.15! Hurray! I almost made off with bags from Kim Rogers and Tommy Hilfiger and wallets from Fossil...but i stopped myself before the irreparable damage was done. You know those situations in which the price and the brands are darnit attractive, but truly inside, you don't exactly like it THAT much...yeah, this was probably one of those. Got a fossil SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT bag...and subsequently got condemned by tong and han. I admit, it was a stupid buy for USD 10 (Seriously, cannot trust guy's taste sometimes...LOL).

Oh oh oh...speaking of guy's taste, we went into Aeropostale, where a week ago, tong han and I bought bikinis from, and he had to guess which one each of us bought. His choices were totally different from those we bought!!! That explains everything right?

Ok I have to go to work soon already...Here are some pictures!

My handphone loves America...
it doesn't wish to go back to Singapore.

I hate my job. Seriously... getting so sick of it - the standing, the grease, the longggg hours, the food... and I don't think i am the only one. Yesterday it was the worst day of my freakin American life. I lost my Samsung F480 phone and room key and about USD 40 early in the morning. I suck. And what's worst...I was left alone with the dishes from 8pm to 10pm until Ak returned from cash control and helped me along until 11.30pm. I was MISERABLE. Hahaha...i felt like a sick little kitten, helpless and pathetic (that's partially why i hate cats anyway). I swear...the trays piled up higher than my height and they were greasier than any oily dish you have probably complained of.

Like WHY ME? No one bothers to help (except for one girl but she left a while later anyhow) and there isn't a organized roster to allocate duties and make sure that all is fair and square! I feel so freakin' discriminated against and exploited beyond tolerance. ARGH.

But...thats not only it. Han lost her wallet containing her phone and money and cards and key too! On the exact same day. And while i probably dropped mine somewhere, hers was taken from her bag while at work! DAMN those poor useless idiots! You should have seen us both lamenting and swearing and emo-ing and cursing yesterday night. HAHAHAHA.

Ok I won't complain. At least I see the dark side of life overseas if it weren't just holidays and hotel stays. I think i feel for those Blangadeshi workers in Singapore already...HEHEHE. Yesterday wasn't that bad i guess because the park was really pretty at night when we walked out and Ak stole pizza (though rather unsuccessfully since the manager kind of saw him walking out with the plate!) and that was dinner! SHIOKKK. And about 2 nights ago, we had an Employees' Night where they opened the Maverick Rollercoaster ride for us and it was AWESOME. Though i hate sudden and steep drops...the ride was brilliant! And we had free hotdog buns and drinks :)

Today was boringggg. Was cashier along with a few others that i don't really talk to. I realize i can't understand what the blacks are saying because they speak REALLY fast and phrase them in a special way unique only to themselves. LIKE HUH? And as a result, I find myself shutting up more and more. Its tiring to keep asking "huh?", "sorry i didn't get you" or "could you repeat"... or worst just give a polite laugh because i seriously have no idea what is going on and end up having them stare into your face wondering why you laughed. Language isn't really the only barrier...culture makes a big one too.

I got off early today...at 8pm. I guess it was only because i was yelling fuck non-stop while scrambling to get the dishes done yesterday before the last bus left. HAHA either that or my supervisor decided that i deserved some break before i crumple like poorly-made Elephant ears (dough with cinammon and sugar).

OH! WE GAVE JOVITA A SUPER SURPRISE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!
Hahaha, that was really surprising considering our attitudes in the day that showed no sign that we remembered her birthday. We got a Mrs Fields huge cookie cake with writing in bright pink and blue cream on top for her...so pretty! Shall upload some pictures of it soon! And we girls bought her a Aeropostale top in white...mine is in green, tong's in red and han's in pink. PRETTY STUFF :):):)

Haven't had a chance to hit the malls again, and i dont think i want to at this moment when i just lost my stuff and when work leaves me dead tired. I think I am about to go bathe and wait for the rest to come back from work...poor kids.

And in the meantime, pray that i find my belongings ok. I cant lose 3 phones in a year! That's crazy!

Love you people,
from the new unbeatable bitch.

Hellloooooo Pang, Yvonne, Slut, Van!!!!

HAHAHA I couldn't find the doctor...what's the use of a doctor who is so well-hidden??!!!! And yesss, i saw so many cute guys...but they are ALL customers to whom I talk to for a mere 30 seconds! And more often than not, they are attached to some super hot girl. SUCKS. It sucks so bad that the employees really look crappy...or maybe it is the uniform (i try my best to be reasonable).

CW's roomie has got a pretty good looking European face but he is too darnit short and stout...though preppy suits him well. but...BLEAHZ. And i think he has got something for neatness and that is way to extreme. HAHAHA.

I would love to take more pictures man. But we aren't allowed to take pictures while in uniform...neither can we take rides or buy food from the the park. STUPID RULES! And you know what...we are only allowed to bring bags that are transparent...as in you can see EVERYTHING inside the bag...this is their preventive measure in ensuring employees do not steal anything off the park premises. STUPID. So i end up like an old maid dragging a walmart plastic bag to work everyday. HAHAHA. And i dont think i am taking my camera out given that i lost my hp in less than a week since i first reached US!

I hope my work and travel gets a lot more fun than it is right now...cant imagine how it was like in Yellowstone for you...but it sounds more fun than mine!

In the meantime, i miss you people and email me updates (only if exciting laaaaa) from Singapore!

People-watch.

Today was MUCH MUCH better. Because i was working as a cashier (FINALLY) at the Burger room...no more PIZZA room like yesterday! So the new food were...Cheeseburgers, Hamburgers, BBQ Chicken Burgers, Fries, Sloshies and POP (American way of calling soft drinks...haha so Archie Comic style). And hurrays..only 3 USD short of the accounted total cash...damn impressive for a first day cashier yooooo =)=)=)

And no dishwashing for me! Since i was involved in the counting of the cash in the register...MUAHAHA. Cashier is fun...because we met all sorts of people. I saw this gorgeous couple...seriously! The guy looked just like Clark, the main lead from Smallville, and his girlfriend looks like Laila, the female lead (grown up) in Slumdog Millonaire. HOT STUFF please...mix until the kid can probably enter into international pageants la.

Then there was this paranoid freako lady so demanded that her meat in her burger was WELL WELL WELL (too freakin well) DONE...she wanted “no pink at all”. Her request was quite puzzling, it required the attention of the supervisor who assured her that at 180 degrees, all bacteria would have been killed and while it could not be WELL WELL WELL DONE, it was definitely well done. And when i passed her a straw with my fingers touching it as minimally as i could managed, she KP-ed me! Ok...I took a tissue and handed her a straw using that...i know that’s the standard in F&B, but seriously this is an open fast food outlet in a theme park!!! PARANOID shittt.

And of course there had to be a group of the bitchiest girls alive....I can’t even be bothered to narrate their bitchiness...but sheesh, sometimes they make their stupid stereotypical perspective of Asians so darnit obvious. I am NOT some stupid, brainless Asian who can’t speak perfect English and hence landed such a job, having smuggled myself into US via a cargo ship, because i had no other alternative lest i starve to my lowly death...I am a smartass lawyer-to-be who wanted a richer experience in life, longed to experience the American culture and had the cash to splurge 1.5K on mere agency fees besides my flight fees...GET THAT RIGHT PEOPLE. (HAHAHA...not the typical humble and self-doubting me)

OH. Fun fact...2 people commented that my English was perfecttt! HAHA i guess its the relativity since they probably have this idea we are from China where English isn’t really their thing.. =)

On our way back to our dorms, we saw CONG WEI! Left us freakin high and we visited his dorm. HAHAHA he claims that the other guy in this room is a gay and was doing something weird with another guy on his bed when CW entered one night....OOOOH exciting stuff. So this evening when we visited, we were anticipating a good show...BUT boring...it was him and him alone only. Another time perhaps...

And my eye is getting worst by the minute. ARGHHH...if it gets worst tomorrow, I might just see a doctor and tell him/her that i fried my eye on the first day at work. DARNIT loser-ish. OK we are applying for our social security pass tml as a group...8AM! And now is like 1AM already...better scoot off to bed!

Love,

ME.

You never knew pain 'til today.

I broke two of my life records today.

1. I stood for the longest time in my life.

2. I washed the highest pile of dishes/huge trays in my life.

Both were very painful indeed. I stood until my legs couldn’t bend and I washed until I couldn’t bend my index finger. Well I think I fried fries and chicken fingers using the grease fryer, baked a large tray of 6 pizzas in the huge oven, squeezed cheese out of the cheese machine and used the pretzel and salt machine, all for the first time too.

It was intimidating when we first started...they freakin left me and AK to sell a whole shop of chicken fingers, fries, pizza and pretzels ALL ON OUR OWN. HAHA we weren’t even sure if we were supposed to start cooking and already there was a queue. I tell you, people in the US have loads of money for theme parks and especially food. Small baskets of food can cost USD9 and they don’t hesitate to splurge on those unworthy indulgences. I fried so many, so hurriedly, so painstakingly...that i couldn’t even bear to take a bite of them...the smell made me lose my appetite and feel nauseous. HAHAHA grease overload i swear.

So the sales were slightly slow at the start as i fumbled with the cooking and rushed to the freezer to get supplies every 15 minutes while AK loaded the baskets and figured the cash register out...BUT we did it eventually and in no time, we were like freakin rockin pros!!! Almost as if we had been doing the exact same thing for eons! But yucky things did happen, and i got spurted with super hot grease oil at my right eye. Didn’t think too much about it and i did not even wash it, but my eye started hurting BAD and tearing and ‘shitting’ a lot in the night. ARGH. Ak and I had our 15 min break but we couldn’t eat at all...the frying made us lose our appetites. Ended up stoning, KP-ing and drinking sloshies.

I subsequently worked with this girl from Maldova...a country somewhere in Eastern Europe. She’s cool...she hates American food, preferring soups and fish which are popular in her country. Think I would like the place...excited to go on a half year Europe trip sometime in my life SOON! The best thing about Work& Travel is that i get to meet these different people from the most obscure places on the planet!!

SO. It was dish washing time. Or so i volunteered to start the washing since no one else wanted to (silence is quite an indication)...and boy, i never felt so stupid. DISHES are the worst ever. Think 100000 times worst than home-dish-washing. Think trays and not plates, black sticky grease and not oil, burnt stains and not scraps. Thank god i got help from Ak and Henry (he was posted to work half day at our store later on in the day) with the dishes though Ak ran off to settle the accounts and eventually it was me, the Maldova girl and henry who finished the dishes. Couldn’t believe it when we were done. IT WAS HIGH for me okkk...hahaha. I swear it felt like it was a never-ending task.

Dinner with Han, Dy, Tong, Ak,Henry was a blur. So tired.. I just chewed some macaroni salad and gulped some much-needed yogurt down and was so thankful to get back to the dorms. 3 mouthfuls of DY’s beer stashed in the guy’s dorm was HEAVENLY. Maybe the illegality of it all coupled with the weariness made those 3 mouthfuls too darnit awesome. I need alcohol! Damn the stupid prohibition for those under 21 years old. Hope tomorrow will be better...a lot better!

Earning my keep.

Today was spent slacking. The final day before I am supposed to start work...well actually I escaped my first work stint today. I will be working at this quick food joint called the Stockade for the next 2.5mth...was assigned to work there along with Ak. Saw our supervisor and he looks pretty cool and easy going. AWESOME. The last thing i need is some crazy over-the-edge boss who is going to hunt me down for every stupid blunder i make. BUT i better not assume too soon. Tong just walked into the room from her first day at work and she looks...HAHA funny. Like a tomboy mailboy. But she was freaking shagged from making one too many pizzas and washing up the grill and pots and pans. Damn, sounds like doomsday for me tomorrow. 930AM, I am coming for you, piece of @#$%^&*()(*&^%$#.

Nah, i don’t think it will be that bad. Well except for the cleaning up part.

Anyhow, we took our uniform today. Mine is some chequered green and blue and red shirt and blue three-quarters pants. And I got myself a sweatshirt and a fleece jacket. Damn got set back by 39 USD unlike the others who only spent 19 USD...blame me and my stupid low tolerance threshold for the cold. Seriously, i keep freezing all the time, even during ‘unfreezable’ times. You know what, I think Hall spoiled me...what with all their freely available heaters. I didn’t even need heaters at home previously.

Sat a rollercoaster ride today...called the Corkscrew. Yea yea I am a scaredy-cat i admit. I freakin’ yelled even before the dip came. So unlike the cold and detached me, but i needed to warm my throat up for the much needed scream later on in the ride. That ride was a baby for the rest, but gosh I think i am gonna need much convincing before i will get onto the Power Tower and Dragster. WHAT A BABY... whatever. My heart is pretty weak i guess...people don’t feel what I feel when those sudden drops occur. My heart feels like it is stuck at the top and tearing apart from the muscles and I can’t breathe nor scream. Hate that feeling...but the idea of thrill and the gush of wind and adrenaline plus the money spent keeps me crazy over rollercoaster theme parks.

And the rest of the afternoon was spent sleeping, unintentionally forsaking the earlier plans to go back to the theme park for the rides with Han, Jovita and Ak. Can’t wait for more shopping and touring and even to start work!

Damn I miss Grey’s Anatomy and Gossip Girl and How I met my mother and ANTM already.

LIVING THE AMERICAN DREAM LIFE

This is like the second day of my US trip according to the calendar, but in terms of the hours, it is the 2.5 day.

Cleveland is freaking cold. By that i mean SERIOUS FREAKIN COLD. Even though it is summer. And right now at 8.30 am in the morning, it is raining on me and the rest of them AGAIN.
The place is sweet and peaceful i guess, their dorms are livable though KR definitely wins this one hands down. Thank god we didn't get the apartment...you so do not want me elaborating further on that.

So far we had a HUMONGOUS pizza that the 8 of us couldn't finish. We took crazy shots and got freaking high in a HELLO KITTY nursing room and playground in Taipei's airport. We visited Hollywood Los Angeles and paid 75 USD PER TAXI. so that equals to 150USD for the 8 of us for a half hour ride. You should have seen our faces and hear our heart beat as the meter raced on. HAHAHA. WTH laaa...we haven't even started work and it feels like daylight robbery already. And we passed by this Baseball stadium which was about to feature a homegame! DAMNIT the atmosphere is way too cool...everyone charges into the stadium wearing the jerseys of their favourite team. We would have bought the tix too, but we had to go catch a coach.

Jetlag is an ASS. Was dead out last night that i dont even remember the guys entering the room to call us for dinner or when they fetched dinner or when they carried our luggages up. THAT DEAD. HAHA. Oooooh, one thing i have to add. we couldn't bathe for 2 days...SERIOUSLY. My last bath was about 12 hours ago. But i guess it wasn't so bad because the weather kind of froze us into human popsicles (or maybe just the girls la)

OK. I think i better go wake the rest up. We have to settle administrative shittt and attend some employee training. HAHAHA, about the word 'shit'...people in US generally thinks it is a more vulgar word than fuck. So when Han exclaimed 'oh shit' when she filled out the form wrongly, the people behind the desk were like DAMN STUNNED. They were looking at each other in wide-eye amazement...HAHA. I bet they were thinking "THAT coming from a cute yong innocent looking Asian?" HAHAHA just freakin hilarious.

Probably put up the photos soon.See you blog stalkers SOON (like in 3months)!

Loveees.
