You never knew pain 'til today.

I broke two of my life records today.

1. I stood for the longest time in my life.

2. I washed the highest pile of dishes/huge trays in my life.

Both were very painful indeed. I stood until my legs couldn’t bend and I washed until I couldn’t bend my index finger. Well I think I fried fries and chicken fingers using the grease fryer, baked a large tray of 6 pizzas in the huge oven, squeezed cheese out of the cheese machine and used the pretzel and salt machine, all for the first time too.

It was intimidating when we first started...they freakin left me and AK to sell a whole shop of chicken fingers, fries, pizza and pretzels ALL ON OUR OWN. HAHA we weren’t even sure if we were supposed to start cooking and already there was a queue. I tell you, people in the US have loads of money for theme parks and especially food. Small baskets of food can cost USD9 and they don’t hesitate to splurge on those unworthy indulgences. I fried so many, so hurriedly, so painstakingly...that i couldn’t even bear to take a bite of them...the smell made me lose my appetite and feel nauseous. HAHAHA grease overload i swear.

So the sales were slightly slow at the start as i fumbled with the cooking and rushed to the freezer to get supplies every 15 minutes while AK loaded the baskets and figured the cash register out...BUT we did it eventually and in no time, we were like freakin rockin pros!!! Almost as if we had been doing the exact same thing for eons! But yucky things did happen, and i got spurted with super hot grease oil at my right eye. Didn’t think too much about it and i did not even wash it, but my eye started hurting BAD and tearing and ‘shitting’ a lot in the night. ARGH. Ak and I had our 15 min break but we couldn’t eat at all...the frying made us lose our appetites. Ended up stoning, KP-ing and drinking sloshies.

I subsequently worked with this girl from Maldova...a country somewhere in Eastern Europe. She’s cool...she hates American food, preferring soups and fish which are popular in her country. Think I would like the place...excited to go on a half year Europe trip sometime in my life SOON! The best thing about Work& Travel is that i get to meet these different people from the most obscure places on the planet!!

SO. It was dish washing time. Or so i volunteered to start the washing since no one else wanted to (silence is quite an indication)...and boy, i never felt so stupid. DISHES are the worst ever. Think 100000 times worst than home-dish-washing. Think trays and not plates, black sticky grease and not oil, burnt stains and not scraps. Thank god i got help from Ak and Henry (he was posted to work half day at our store later on in the day) with the dishes though Ak ran off to settle the accounts and eventually it was me, the Maldova girl and henry who finished the dishes. Couldn’t believe it when we were done. IT WAS HIGH for me okkk...hahaha. I swear it felt like it was a never-ending task.

Dinner with Han, Dy, Tong, Ak,Henry was a blur. So tired.. I just chewed some macaroni salad and gulped some much-needed yogurt down and was so thankful to get back to the dorms. 3 mouthfuls of DY’s beer stashed in the guy’s dorm was HEAVENLY. Maybe the illegality of it all coupled with the weariness made those 3 mouthfuls too darnit awesome. I need alcohol! Damn the stupid prohibition for those under 21 years old. Hope tomorrow will be better...a lot better!
